Kevin Flaherty, M.D., an eye surgeon from Wausau, Christopher Magiera, M.D., and Pamela Galloway, M.D., both from Wausau, are among several dozen physicians featured in a new book endorsed by former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, M.D.
In the oral history, "White Coat Wisdom," medical journalist Stephen J. Busalacchi introduces readers to real physicians who discuss experiences unique to the medical profession. Readers receive practical advice for solving society's and individuals' intractable health problems. Dr. Flaherty discusses the intricacies of corneal transplants and how he learned his craft. Doctors Magiera and Galloway discuss how they felt compelled to leave Ohio because of intractable problems with medical insurance.

White Coat Wisdom gets a mention in Melanie Conklin's Sunday, August 12, 2007 Wisconsin State Journal column. It's just below the Elvis Presley piece and sports a headline that has absolutely nothing to do with the book!

"STEVE BUSALACCHI, former director of public relations at the Wisconsin Medical Society, has written the book "White Coat Wisdom," which archives doctors' first-person accounts of their experiences. The release date is set for later this year. See the book's Web site: http://www.whitecoatwisdom.com."
